72-year-old woman hurt after being hit by train in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — A 72-year-old woman was sent to the hospital after a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train hit her in Manila on Friday afternoon.

An incident report from PNR spokesperson Jo Geronimo identified the victim as Delia Cercado, a resident of Caloocan City.

The PNR said Cercado was crossing the railroad tracks along Zobel Roxas St. near the Vito Cruz PNR station when she was sideswiped by a northbound train going to Manila at 1:55 p.m.

A train marshall went to the Vito Cruz police station to coordinate and ask assistance from an ambulance.

Police said the victim was rushed to the Makati Medical Hospital at 2:20 p.m. for medical treatment.
