Parents of ailing 7-year-old girl need to raise P28,000 for test
Maria Joddel Manangan, a seven-year-old girl, has been diagnosed to be suffering from complexities of spina bifida, neurogenic bladder and levoscoliosis. These ailments have affected her spinal cord, which makes it difficult for her gall bladder to get rid of all body wastes.
This is also why at her age, Joddel has yet to walk, according to her mother, Rowelyn. Half of her body is also paralyzed.
To make it easier for doctors at Philippine General Hospital to determine the best way they can help her, the young girl needs to undergo magnetic resonance imaging as well as take her maintenance medicine.
“The amount may be affordable for some people but we cannot raise P28,000 for our daughter’s MRI. My husband, Marcelino, is just a construction worker,” Rowelyn told the Inquirer in Filipino.
“Doctors say that if the damaged nerve is rehabilitated, it is possible she can still regain the use of the left side of her body,” she added.
Rowelyn can be reached at 0922-5274024.
