Fire-stricken Star City to stay closed until end of damage assessment
MANILA, Philippines — The management of the fire-stricken Star City announced on Thursday that operations of the amusement park are temporarily stopped until further notice.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the temporary cessation of park operations until a full assessment of the situation can be made,” the management said in a statement posted on Facebook.
“We will be making further announcements in due course. We ask for the understanding of our partners and guests as we work to regain footing,” it added.
According to the Star City management, a major repair and reconstruction of the amusement park is needed because of the fire.
The amusement park management also asked for the public’s understanding in the wake of the fire.
Star City was hit by the fire at around 12:22 a.m. on Wednesday. Authorities are still determining the cause of the fire.
Star City’s sister company, Manila Broadcasting Company said the amusement park will remain closed until the Christmas season. The fire left at least P1 billion in damages. /muf
