Panelo thinks nations backing PH killings probe ‘not even offended’ by Palace memo

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo thinks that the countries that voted in favor of a thorough review into the human rights situation in the Philippines are “not even offended” by a Palace memo suspending loans and grants from them.
“In fact, wala akong naririnig na reaksyon from them,” Panelo said in a Palace briefing on Tuesday.
“Wala naman reaksyon sa kanila eh, ang tingin ko they’re not even offended by the move of the President,” he added.
Under a confidential memo issued last August 27, all departments and government agencies were directed to suspend negotiations and agreements on grants and loans from the countries that voted in favor of the Iceland-led resolution of the United Nations Human Rights Council that called for a comprehensive report on the human rights situation in the Philippines, including the Duterte administration’s brutal war on drugs. /kga
