Pregnant woman busted for drugs in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines — A seven-month pregnant woman was arrested after yielding P30,000-worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Quezon City on Tuesday night, police said.

A report from the Masambong police station identified the suspect as Mira Bastiner, who was included in the drug watchlist of the national police’s Directorate for Intelligence (DI).

According to the police report, Masambong police officers conducted the drug near Bastiner’s house in West Riverside Street, Barangay Damayan at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

“‘Yan talaga trabaho niya, magbenta ng drugs. Nasa DI watchlist, indeed she is into drugs,” Lt. Col. Rodrigo Soriano told INQUIRER.net in a text message.

Aside from the shabu, authorities seized from the suspect the marked money worth P500.

The 44-year-old suspect is currently at the police station’s female detention cell while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against her. /kga
