LEGAZPI CITY –– At least 30 passengers, most of them public school teachers, were injured on Monday morning when the passenger jeepney they were riding fell into a deep ravine in a remote village in Bacacay town in Albay province.

Major Dexter Panganiban, Albay police spokesperson, quoting an initial police report said the jeepney was bound for Barangay Cagbulacao, an upland village some 20 kilometers from the town center.

The passenger jeep loaded with public school teachers was negotiating a downhill road around 7:30 a.m. when the vehicle’s brake malfunctioned, causing the driver to lose control.

The passengers, including the driver, were taken to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital for treatment of broken bones and contusions. /lzb
