Pagasa: 'Marilyn' slightly weakens while heading northeast

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression “Marilyn” slightly weakened while heading northeast, the state weather bureau said Saturday.

In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that “Marilyn” was last spotted at 1,215 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

Marilyn packed maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

The weather disturbance was also spotted moving at 10 kph northeast.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will bring occasional to frequent light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains over Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Sulu Archipelago, Palawan and Mindoro Provinces.

Bicol Region and the rest of Mimaropa and Visayas will experience scattered light to moderate rains with at times heavy rain showers due to thunderstorms. /jpv
