Couple nabbed in Lanao del Sur drug bust

ILIGAN CITY –– Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a couple on Thursday, Sept. 12, in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Raya Balay in Mulondo, Lanao del Sur.

Lawyer Abdul Jamal Dimaporo, head of NBI-Iligan District Office, identified the suspects as Macapanton Cosain of Molundo town, and his wife, Hadji Walida Rakim Cosain.

Dimaporo said around 55 grams of crystal meth or shabu, with an estimated market value of P200,000, was recovered from the couple.

According to Dimaporo, who acted as poseur buyer, the couple were put under surveillance for several months before the buy-bust operation was pulled off last Thursday.

In July this year, Dimaporo said he was able to buy 10 grams of shabu from them but was not able to push the operations.

Dimaporo related that he first transacted with the couple outside of their house but when they saw that other people were passing by, he was asked to enter the residential compound.

Charges for violating the Dangerous Drugs Act are being prepared against the suspects./lzb
