Most train operations in Metro Manila suspended due to earthquake

MANILA, Philippines — Train operations were put on hold following an earthquake that shook parts of Metro Manila Friday afternoon.

Lyn Janeo, Light Rail Transit Administration communications officer, said that all LRT-2 trains were “put on hold due to the earthquake” that centered 40 kilometers northeast of Burdeos, Quezon at 4:28 p.m.

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 management, quoting MRT-3 Director Mike Capati, said, “On hold movement ng trains due to earthquake. Still checking facilities.”

The Philippine National Railways trains remained “on hold” as rail bridges were still being checked.

Meanwhile, operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) were not hampered by the earthquake.

The tremor was felt at Intensity IV in Quezon City.
