LUCENA CITY –– A former drug convict was shot and killed while sleeping inside his house here shortly before midnight Wednesday, police said.

Marlon Diosdado Angulo, 58, was shot and killed by still unidentified assailant inside the bedroom of his house in Barangay (village) Cotta around 10:30 p.m., Lucena police chief Lt. Colonel Reydante Ariza, said in a report.

Police said the gunman forcibly entered the victim’s house and without apparent reason shot Anggulo while sleeping inside the bedroom located on the second floor.

The victim died on the spot from a fatal bullet wound on his head.

Elvira Dignos, the sister of the victim who is occupying the ground floor of the house, told investigators that she heard the gunman shouting the nickname of his brother “Toge” followed by four successive gunshots.

Police said the victim was a former detainee on drug pushing charges in 2012 but was recently released following a plea bargaining agreement with the court.

The report said the victim returned to his illegal drug pushing activity after his release from prison. /lzb
