SAN PEDRO CITY –– A man recently released from prison through the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) program surrendered to the police in Ibaan, Batangas.

In a report Wednesday, the Calabarzon police said the 73-year-old freed convict turned himself in to the police station in Ibaan, Batangas around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

He was accompanied by his daughter.

He was convicted of murder on April 1, 1997. Through the GCTA, his sentence was reduced and was released from the National Bilibid Prison on June 22.

President Duterte, however, recently ordered those released through the GCTA to surrender, amid irregularities in the Bureau of Corrections./lzb
