2 cops hurt in Masbate town ambush
LEGAZPI CITY – Two policemen were hurt in an ambush staged by suspected members of the New People’s Army in Pio V. Corpuz town in Masbate province on Wednesday morning.
A report from the Bicol police said a team of policemen were on board a police patrol car to respond to a shooting incident when they hit an improvised explosive device allegedly planted by the rebels in Barangay Alegria around 8:45 a.m.
The explosion was followed by a series of gunshots that hit Patrolmen Dexter Navarro and Jamerick Manongsong.
Other policemen on board were able to retaliate, prompting the rebels to flee. Mar S. Arguelles/lzb
