2 Taguig cops wounded in grenade attack
MANILA, Philippines – Two police officers were wounded in Taguig City early Wednesday morning after a hand grenade, hurled by a man they were about to accost went off.
Taguig City police chief Col. Alexander Santos identified the victims as Executive Master Sergeant Santiago Cordova and Cpl. Alnajim Abdulhalim of the Taguig Police Community Precinct 2.
Santos told INQUIRER.net that the law enforcers were conducting Simultaneous Anti Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) when they spotted the suspicious-looking individual along Maguindanao Street in New Lower Bicutan at around 1 a.m.
The police officers approached the man who was carrying three hand grenades.
The man, however, fired at the lawmen and hurled a grenade.
The suspect fled after the explosion while the police officers were brought to hospital.

Further investigation and pursuit operations against the suspect are ongoing. /gsg
