Pasay City barangay chairman shot dead

MANILA, Philippines  – A barangay chairman was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Pasay City Wednesday afternoon.

The Pasay City police identified the victim as Vjojo Balais Abagon, 42, who was the barangay chairman of Barangay 37 Zone 3.

Initial investigation showed that the Abagon was on his motorcycle cruising along Sen. Gil J. Puyat Avenue (Buendia) heading towards Roxas Boulevard when he was gunned down.

The assassins sped off after the attack while concerned citizens brought Abagon to Manila Adventists Medical Center where he succumbed to gunshot wounds.

Further investigation and pursuit operations against the killers are ongoing.  /gsg
