More floating ‘shabu’ turns up on PH shores, this time in North Samar town
TACLOBAN CITY—Five packs of suspected shabu, or crystal meth, with an estimated street value of P64 million were recovered along the shores of Biri town, Northern Samar province on Saturday (Aug. 10).
Police said the drug shipment was found at a coastal village of Biri some 1.5 kilometers from the town center.
The drugs were found separately. A fisherman saw three packs around 2 p.m. and seven hours later, around 9 p.m., another two packs were found by a child in the same area where the first three packs were found.
The first three packs weighed more than 7 kilograms, according to a police officer of Biri who refused to be identified for lack of authority to speak to media. The two packs weighed around 2 kilograms, said the same source.
The drugs would be turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. Biri is an island town facing the municipality of Allen, also in Northern Samar, which hosts several ports and is a gateway to Eastern Visayas from Luzon./TSB
