MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau has said rainy weather will prevail in most parts of Luzon and Visayas due to the storm-enhanced southwest monsoon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) noted that Tropical Storm Hanna (international name: Lekima) slowed down Monday afternoon as it continued to move north-northwest.
Hanna was last spotted 845 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, Pagasa said, adding that the storm packs maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts of up to 105 kph, and moving at 10 kph.
Monsoon rains will continue over Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, MIMAROPA and Western Visayas, according to the state weather bureau.
It also said Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, and the rest of Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
Hanna’s extension will bring overcast skies with scattered rains over Cagayan Valley, it added, while Mindanao will have fair weather with chances of isolated rains. /kga
