Aug. 4 to 24: Kadayawan Festival
A monthlong gathering of the residents in Davao City to show gratitude to the indigenous people who have played a big role in the city’s history.
According to the Davao City government, some 250,000 tourists are expected to join the festival.
The “bantawan,” or cultural shows featuring the traditions and dances of the 11 tribes of Davao, and “Dula Kadayawan,” or tribal games, are among the festival’s main highlights.
Aug. 9 to 11: Ironman 70.3 Philippines
Now on its eighth year in Cebu province, the long-distance triathlon event held in Lapu-Lapu City is joined by thousands of triathletes from different countries. Irongirl and Ironkids will kick off the three-day event on the first two days. Ironman, the main event, starts at Shangri-La Mactan beach with a 1.9-kilometer swim. Participants will then shift to a 90-km bike leg, before finishing with a 21-km run course.
