MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued 16 Chinese tourists after their boat ran into another boat and capsized off the coast of Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan.

According to the Western Visayas police, the tourists were onboard MBCA LMJ boat when it collided with the FB Jin Ju boat at about 2:55 p.m. on Thursday.

Police said the incident happened around 50 meters away from the shoreline of the Bolabog Beach.

PCG personnel immediately responded to the area and rescued the Chinese nationals who, at that time, were found afloat on the waters after the incident.

The victims, who sustained minor injuries, were later brought to the Ciriaco S. Tirol Hospital for treatment.

Both captains of the boats were brought to the PCG office for investigation. /je
