Makati gov’t gives free raincoats, rain boots to over 6k preschoolers
MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Makati City has distributed free raincoats and rain boots to 6,745 preschoolers in three schools in the city.
Makati Mayor Binay on Thursday led the distribution of the raingear to preschoolers in Comembo Elementary School, Pembo Elementary School and Rizal Elementary School, a statement released on Friday said.
The donation was under the expanded Project FREE (Free Relevant and Excellent Education) of the Makati government.
Makati schools division superintendent Rita Riddle said all 6,745 preschoolers enrolled in the 25 public elementary schools would be given a raincoat and rain boots.
Binay said the Makati government will also focus on ensuring the safety of students who are prone to diseases during the rainy season.

“We are providing free raincoats and rain boots to pre-schoolers this school year since they are more vulnerable to water-borne diseases during the rainy season. Our students in Grades 1 to 6 already received theirs last year,” Binay said. /je
