Neophyte councilor is acting mayor of Cagayan de Oro
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY –– Neophyte Councilor Joyleen Mercedes L. Balaba takes over the reins of the local government here starting Thursday, July 25, following the official travel of its two top executives.
In a July 22 memorandum issued by Mayor Oscar S. Moreno, Balaba, more known as Girlie, was designated as Acting City Mayor from July 25 to August 1.
Balaba will be acting mayor for eight days.

Moreno said he and Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy are traveling to the United States for the 17th Kagay-anon International Tapok 2019 and would not be able to exercise the powers and perform their duties.
Moreno’s travel will be up to August 1 while Uy’s will be until August 8. /lzb
