NDRRMC appeals to Customs to donate confiscated items to ‘Sendong’ victims

MANILA, Philippines – An official from the National Disaster Risk Management Council (NDRRMC) appealed to the Bureau of Customs to make better use or their confiscated shipment of smuggled goods by donating them to victims of Tropical Storm “Sendong”, a report from Radyo Inquirer 990AM said Tuesday.

NDRRMC Executive Director Benito Ramos was quoted as saying that rather than storing their confiscated shipment of used clothing and foodstuff in their warehouse, it would be better to just donate them to those in need in the flood-stricken areas of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City.

NDRRMC said that the latest death toll from the disaster has reached 957 as 49 others remained missing.
