‘Drug courier’ nabbed in Quezon

LUCENA CITY –– Police arrested a 63-year-old suspected drug courier and seized about P587,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) in Infanta town in Quezon province Wednesday night.

Anti-illegal drugs operatives collared Marilyn Galvan, resident of Meycauayan, Bulacan, while carrying one transparent plastic containing 106.72 grams of shabu while standing in front of an electronics store in the town proper around 6:30 p.m., Major Dandy Aguilar, Infanta police chief, said in a report Thursday.

The confiscated illegal drugs were worth P586,960 in the street market at the prevailing price of P5,500 per gram.

Aguilar said the suspect was about to deliver the shabu to an undercover police officer who made the order earlier through her mobile phone.

“Her illegal activities and contact number were divulged to us by previously arrested drug pushers who pointed to her as their source. The information was confirmed by our assets,”
Aguilar said over the phone.

Police said the suspect who was undergoing investigation has yet to reveal her drug source in Manila.

“According to her, she was being paid by the syndicate at least P10,000 for every delivery,” Aguilar said. The suspect admitted that her delivery in Infanta was the third time. /lzb
