8-year-old girl allegedly raped, stuffed inside sack by construction worker in Taguig

MANILA, Philippines — An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped and was stuffed inside a sack by a construction worker in Taguig City on Sunday.

An initial report from Col. Alexander Santos, Taguig City police station commander on Tuesday, said the victim was about to go home when suspect identified as Sotero Manuguid Jr. approached her and offered her money at about 3 p.m.

Police said the girl went with Manuguid until they reached a vacant lot along Katwiran Street in Barangay Ibayo-Tipas where she was allegedly raped and then choked.

Manuguid, thinking that the girl was already dead, stuffed her inside a sack before escaping on foot.

The victim however managed to free herself and reported the incident to her mother who then sought help from barangay officials and from the Taguig City police.

Manuguid was arrested on Sunday at Barangay Ibayo-Tipas and was brought to the Taguig City police headquarters for custody. Police said appropriate charges are being readied against him. /muf
