MANILA, Philippines — Critics of President Rodrigo Duterte should now reconsider opposing him as they will be “crushed by the galloping horses of change,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Monday.
Panelo had this warning to Duterte critics minutes after the Chief Executive was set to deliver his fourth State of the Nation Address at the joint session of the 18th Congress.
“Well it’s about time you wake up from your slumber otherwise you will be crushed by the galloping horses of change,” Panelo said when asked about his message to critics of the administration.
Duterte, he added, would remain steadfast in his agenda against crime and corruption throughout his remaining three years in power.

Panelo earlier said Duterte is expected to tackle the issue of the West Philippine Sea and other major issues during his presidential address to Congress.

The West Philippine Sea issue, as well as Philippine’s relations with China, was among the topics the public wants to hear from Duterte, according to a recent Pulse Asia survey.
Workers’ salaries, prices of essential commodities, and employment have also topped the list of issues the public would like the President to discuss during his report to the nation, the poll said. /muf
