DOJ forms 3-man panel to handle case vs VP, others over ‘Bikoy’ video

MANILA, Philippines–Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has created a three-member panel that will handle the string of criminal complaint filed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) against Vice President Leni Robredo, Church leaders and other members of the opposition.
The panel is composed of Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Olivia L. Torrevillas and Assistant State Prosecutors Michael John M. Humarang and Gino Paolo S. Santiago.
The complaint was in relation to the video series “Ang Totoong Narcolist” that detailed the alleged involvement of President Rodrigo Duterte’s family and close allies in illegal drug trade.
The video series was supposedly part of “Project Sodoma”of which the main objective was to discredit the President and destabilize his administration.
Guevarra assured that the investigation will be fair and impartial.
“The DOJ is not a weapon for oppression or persecution. We shall go by the evidence presented before us and we don’t care who gets indicted and who goes free,” Guevarra said adding that “once probable cause is determined and a criminal case is filed in court, the DOJ will exert the full force of the law to secure a conviction.” /jpv
