According to the Department of Public Works and Highways, the 18.7-kilometer elevated expressway project named Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3, once completed, will divert 100,000 vehicles away from Edsa. Another project, the 32.6-km Southeast Metro Manila Expressway will remove another 100,000 cars from Edsa. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority estimated the daily volume of cars on Edsa at 385,000 versus its capacity of 240,000 a day. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
