Albayalde: Erwin Tulfo starts renewing license to own guns

/ 02:42 PM July 15, 2019

MANILA, Philippines – Radio personality Erwin Tulfo has started renewing his license to own and possess firearms (LTOPF), Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde said Monday.

In a press briefing at Camp Crame in Quezon City, Albayalde said Tulfo had started to renew his LTOPF, which expired on March 3, sometime last week at the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office.

“He’s in the process of renewing his LTOPF. Karapatan naman niya i-renew ‘yung kanyang LTOPF (He has the right to renew his LTOPF),” Albayalde said.

With the ongoing process of renewing his license, Albayalde said Tulfo no longer has to surrender his guns to the police.

Albayalde stressed the same process is also being extended to other gun owners.

“Kung wala tayong makitang effort, that’s the only time na magkakaroon ng police intervention. Pero on his (Tulfo) part, in fairness naman sa kanya, he is undergoing the normal process for the renewal of his LTOPF,” he said.

PNP has earlier recalled Tulfo’s police escorts and also told him to surrender his firearms following the expiration of his LTOPF. This came after Tulfo berated former Army chief and now Social Welfare Secretary Rolando Bautista on his radio show.

Albayalde has denied targeting the radio personality for PNP’s actions on Tulfo.
