DID YOU KNOW: The National Constitutional Convention of 1934

The Filipinos elected 202 delegates to the National Constitutional Convention on this day in 1934.

One of them was Sen. Claro M. Recto who became the convention president.

The delegates drafted the 1935 Constitution, the country’s first fully enacted system of laws, approved by the United States administration and used by the Commonwealth of the Philippines. —Andrea Gregorio, Inquirer Research intern
