Suspect behind murder of taxi driver falls in Pasay

MANILA, Philippines — The suspect behind the murder of a taxi driver was arrested in Pasay, police said on Tuesday.

Pasay police identified the suspect as Daniel Sabado, 35, who is also a suspected member of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik Gang.

Sabado was arrested for being an illegal barker along Gil Puyat Avenue in Pasay area on July 6 at 5:30 p.m.

Members of the Buendia police community precinct then received confidential information that Sabado was behind the killing of Edgardo Egan, who was found dead inside his taxi in Pasay on June 12.

Sabado then confessed to police that he robbed Egan and repeatedly stabbed the latter while inside the taxi cab.

Sabado said he also took cash, cellphone and camera from Egan.

Sabado will face charges of robbery with homicide before the Pasay Prosecutor’s Office. (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
