Cops say crime gang leader killed in Sorsogon gunfight

LEGAZPI CITY—Police on Monday (July 8) said they killed the leader of a crime gang in a clash at a remote area in the town of Juban, Sorsogon province.

Ralph Deri, alleged head of a crime gang bearing his surname, was killed in a gunfight with law enforcers at the village of Rangas, according to Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson.


Police were on surveillance operation when they chanced upon Deri that led to a gunfight around 11:30 a.m. Deri was killed on the spot. MAR ARGUELLES (Editor: Tony Bergonia)
