MANILA, Philippines — Motorcycle ride-hailing service Angkas on Monday donated 50 modular motorcycle helmets to the Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG).
George Royeca of Angkas’ Regulatory and Public Affairs department said the modular helmets are fit for operations of the PNP-HPG personnel because it has all the safety features of a full-face helmet.
He did not disclose the amount of the donated helmets.
PNP-HPG director Brig. Gen. Roberto Fajardo said the helmets will be partnered with 50 BMW motorcycles donated by the San Miguel Corporation through its president, Ramon Ang in December 2018.

“These helmets will be part of the uniform of HPG who will be riding the BMW motorcycles. Hindi ko pa ‘to pinapagamit (I have not ordered it to be used yet) because of the safety feature, and one of the safety features is the helmet,” he said in a press briefing after the turn-over of the helmets from Angkas to PNP-HPG at Camp Crame.
Fajardo said the motorcycles will be deployed along Edsa possibly by July to beef up efforts to strictly enforce traffic rules.
In February, the PNP-HPG also received a shooting simulator from Grab Philippines to provide the police unit an “up-to-date training [to] effectively enforce road safety and security along major thoroughfares.” /gsg
