Suspected drug pusher dead in Laguna
SAN PEDRO CITY –– An alleged illegal drug pusher was killed in a shootout with the police in Nagcarlan town in Laguna province, the provincial police director said on Saturday.
Col. Eleazar Matta, in a text message, identified the slain suspect as Hubert Alcantara, a resident of Barangay Omboy in Sta. Cruz town.
He said members of the police Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the buy-bust around 11:40 p.m. Friday in Barangay Maravilla in Nagcarlan.
An undercover police officer bought suspected shabu (crystal meth) worth P1,000 when Alcantara opened fire, forcing the policeman to shoot back in defense.
The suspect was killed on the spot. Recovered from the scene was a .38 caliber gun. Maricar Cinco (Editor: Leti Boniol)
