Farmer shot dead in Isabela

SAN GUILLERMO, Isabela — A 48-year-old farmer was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen on Thursday afternoon along Barangay Colorado, police said.

Alberto Gumallaui was driving a motorcycle when he was reportedly attacked at 4:30 p.m. His backrider, Lucas Pinao-an, 68, managed to escape and ran to the village leader’s house for help.

As soon as Gumallaui fell, one of the gunmen walked closer and fired at his head several times, police said.

Investigators are looking into the farmer’s personal and business transactions to determine why he was killed. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
