MANILA, Philippines — A motorcycle rider was killed after it slammed into a bus in Caloocan City on Friday, police said.

A report from the Caloocan City Police identified the victim as Rodel Ramos, 31.

According to police, the motorcycle and the Golden Dragon bus (XML-6103) were traveling along C-4 Road around 7:30 a.m. when the bus stopped to unload passengers. The motorcycle, meanwhile, reportedly veered right to avoid a passenger jitney ahead, but its right side hit the left rear portion of the bus.

Due to strong impact, Ramos fell on the road. He was brought to the Caloocan City Medical Center for medical attention, but died around 8:17 a.m.

Police have taken custody of bus driver Juper Sumignan, 35. A female vendor who witnessed the incident has also submitted her written statement to authorities, according to police. (Editor: Katherine G. Adraneda)
