9 Camarines Norte fishermen nabbed for explosives

LEGAZPI CITY –– Nine fishermen were arrested by the police for carrying materials for blast fishing in Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte on Wednesday evening.

A report from the Camarines Norte police, said Jose Serit, Jerrymil Roldan, Dennis Caranza, Glady Incontro, Joel Royol, Jaymar Flores, Roy Royol, Menandro de Vera, and Melvin Pacumbala, all residents of Barangay Calero, were arrested in the waters off Osmeña village around 9 p.m.

They were allegedly carrying five kilos of ammonium nitrate, three blasting caps used for detonation, a compressor, a hose, 10 containers of assorted fish, and four containers of sea cucumber.

Police said the confiscated materials were worth about P415,000. (Editor: Leti Boniol)
