Nancy Binay on JV Ejercito’s loss: He will be back
MANILA, Philippines – Reelected Senator Nancy Binay on Wednesday said she is confident that Senator JV Ejercito can stage a Senate comeback after failing in his reelection bid in the 2019 midterm elections.
“Para sakin, alam ko makakabalik naman siya eh. And I’m sure after a year, feeling ko we will see him back in government (I know he can make it back. After a year, I feel he will be back in government service),” Binay before the proclamation of the winning senatorial bets.
Binay described the election as “heartbreaking” because she edged out Ejercito for the 12th spot.
“To describe this 2019 election is more of parang heartbreaking on my part kasi nakakalungkot kasi hindi nakapasok ‘yung kasama ko since 2013 (This election is heartbreaking on my part because good colleague since 2013 did not make it),” since Binay said.
“Magkasama kami ni Senator JV nung first time namin tumakbo sa senado at magkasama kami nanalo (JV and I ran and won a Senate seat for the first time in 2013),” she added.
Binay secured the last spot in the Senate derby’s Magic 12 with 14,504,936 votes, while Ejercito finished 13th with 14,313,727 votes.
