CABAGAN, Isabela — A 48-year-old man and his 13-year-old daughter drowned on Saturday morning (May 18) at a deep part of the Pinacanauan river, police said.

Loreto Salas Jr., a 48-year-old tricycle driver, and daughter Mia Marloleth, are residents of Santo Tomas town, who joined family and friends for a picnic along the riverbank in Barangay Angancasillian.

Mia swam towards the deep end of the river and was swallowed by the water. Her father tried to save her but was also dragged by the current at 11:50 a.m.

Fishermen found them and brought father and daughter to the Milagros Albano District Hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. (EditorLeti Z. Boniol)
