MANILA, Philippines — Former Senator and Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano was proclaimed Taguig City 1st District representative early Wednesday following his landslide victory in Monday’s elections.

According to a report from Radyo Inquirer, Alan led by a margin of 30,000 votes over PDP-Laban candidate Allan Cerafica.

Meanwhile, Cayetano’s wife, Lani, had an edge of more than 70,000 votes over her rival, Cheche Gonzales, in the second district.

The Cayetano couple’s candidacies in separate legislative districts of Taguig were questioned before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) over domicile issues.

On May 6, however, the poll body’s Second Division junked the plea. (Editor: Cenon B. Bibe Jr.)
