MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), adjourned its session at 5:25 p.m. on Monday as it awaits the transmission of votes from different poling precincts across the country.
Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas said the session for the start of the canvassing of votes will resume at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
The NBOC convened Monday at around 4:30 p.m. to start the canvassing of votes for the midterm election.
But voting across the country is still ongoing as of posting time.
The poll body said it does not see any need to extend the voting hours, despite reports of the delayed opening of precincts and malfunctions on vote counting machines (VCMs) in some areas.
