Makati cops nab 2 men for allegedly robbing Chinese nationals
MANILA, Philippines — Policemen have arrested in a follow-up operation two taxi drivers, who allegedly robbed Chinese nationals last Saturday, May 4.
The Makati police identified the suspects as Fredelino Amido, 43; and his alleged accomplice Ricardo Villarin, 47. The two were collared near Baliwag Transit Terminal on Edsa in Cubao, Quezon City the following day.
Victims Xianhui Zhu and Nam Yan, both of Barangay Bel-Air, Makati City, said in their complaint before police that they boarded a taxi with license plate number AQA 5556 being driven by Amido along Barangay Pio Del Pilar in Makati City on last Saturday.
Amido then drove to Pinagkaisahan, Makati, where an apparently waiting Villarin suddenly entered the taxi and declared a heist, At gunpoint, the victims surrendered their money worth P7,000 and a cellphone.
Makati policemen arrested the suspect in a subsequent manhunt operation and seized from them a car, cellphone, and a caliber 38 gun.
Amido and Villarin are now under police custody, and charged with robbery and illegal possession of firearm in relation to prevailing election gun ban before the Makati City Prosecutors Office. /kga
