5 hurt as utility van flips over after collision in Makati

MANILA, Philippines — Five passengers were injured when a private utility van turned turtle after being involved in a collision with a luxury SUV in a Makati City intersection on Friday.

Makati City Police Station reported that the accident occurred at the intersection of Edsa southbound and Ayala Avenue in Barangay Urdaneta, which involved a Mitsubishi Adventure (NP 4376) and an Escalade SUV (U2 1499), at 2:10 p.m.

Initial report showed that the incident happened when the Mitsubishi Adventure was traversing along the southbound lane of Edsa from the area of Buendia while the Escalade vehicle was traveling along westbound lane of Edsa from Mckinley Road toward Ayala Avenue.

When both vehicles reached the intersection, the front right end bumper of the Escalade hit the rear of the passing Mitsubishi, causing the latter to turn upside down.

The five injured passengers of the Mitsubishi vehicle were brought to Makati Medical Center for medical treatment.
