DOT: 347 hotels, resorts accredited in Boracay
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 347 accommodation establishments have been allowed by the government to operate in Boracay, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said Friday.
In a Facebook post, DOT said a total of 12,876 rooms are now available for travelers who want to visit the tourist destination.
Among the establishments that are now allowed to operate, Fairways and Blue Water Resort and Savoy Hotel Boracay in Barangay Yapak had the highest number of rooms with 700 and 559, respectively.
Before a establishment could operate in Boracay, it must first secure permits and clearances from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
It was on Oct. 26, 2018 when Boracay reopened after a six-month shut down for rehabilitation. /muf
