Marcos Highway Bridge closure postponed to May 11 — MMDA
MANILA, Philippines —The closure of a portion of the Marcos Highway Bridge in Marikina City has been postponed to May 11, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced Thursday.
The Antipolo-bound section of the bridge was originally set to be closed on Saturday, May 4, to start a “total rehabilitation” of the bridge that could take at least four months.

In a statement, the MMDA said it has decided to delay the closure after an ocular inspection of the area revealed that the private contractors involved are “not yet ready to push through” with the project.
The private contractors have yet to open an intersection for trucks traversing the area; install traffic signal for trucks from Libis going to Katipunan in Quezon City; open a slot at the median island for east-bound vehicular traffic or vehicles from Cubao to Antipolo and install all signage informing the public of the project, the agency said.
The MMDA said it gave the private contractors one week to complete the necessary preparations and mitigate the possible inconvenience the bridge closure would cause. /muf
