MANILA, Philippines—The Senate has obtained a “very good” satisfaction rating in the latest Social Weather Station (SWS) survey because it is ‘independent, transparent and since.”
Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said this on Wednesday after the SWS survey showed that 72 percent of its respondents were satisfied with the performance of the Senate.
Only 10 percent of the respondents were not satisfied with the Senate’s performance, according to the poll conducted from March 28-31.

“We work hard,” Sotto said in a text message when sought for comment on the survey. “The present Senate is transparent, independent and sincere.”
“That’s why it bolsters my proposition that all reelectionist be reelected,” he added.
The Senate leader has endorsed the reelection bids of Senators Grace Poe, JV Ejercito, Nancy Binay, Sonny Angara, Cynthia Villar, Koko Pimentel and Bam Aquino.
All reelectionist senators are part of so-called Magic 12 in the Senate based on the latest survey conducted by another polling firm, Pulse Asia.
While Poe and Villar have been consistently topping the pre-election surveys, Ejercito and Aquino, an opposition member, were notably in and out of the Magic 12.
Asked how the two could improve their chances of winning, Sotto said: “Our local officials must campaign harder.”
Sotto is acting chair of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), which is pushing for the senatorial bid of its members— Ejercito and former Senator Lito Lapid.
Aside from Ejercito and Lapid, the NPC has also endorsed Poe, an independent candidate. /muf
