Personal assistant of party-list prexy nabbed for theft of P73,000 in checks

MANILA, Philippines — The personal assistant of Ang Nars party-list president Leah Samaco-Pacquiz was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly stealing P73,000 worth of checks from her boss.

Malabon City police identified the suspect as Kristine Joy Legaspi, 26, a resident of Barangay Tugatog, Malabon City.

Investigation showed that Legaspi allegedly stole the blank checks and forged the signature of Pacquiz on them. Legaspi then allegedly asked John Lloyd Lacsina, 27, to encash the checks. However Lacsina refused and instead went to the Malabon City police.

With the information, Corporal Ricky Del Rosario of the Malabon police station arrested Legaspi inside her house at around 1 p.m.
