Passenger volume in seaports swells to over 97,000

MANILA, Philippines — The number of passengers in seaports nationwide more than quadrupled within a six-hour period on Holy Monday to over 97,000, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

Data from the PCG showed that a total of 97,233 outbound passengers flocked to ports across the country from 6 a.m. to 12 noon of April 15.

This was more than four times higher than the 23,090 passengers from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m..

The bulk of passengers were recorded in Western Visayas ports in Antique, Aklan, Iloilo and Capiz (18,987 passengers).

It was followed by Southern Tagalog provinces with 12,208 passengers, and Central Visayas with 11,785 passengers.
