PCG monitors over 23K passengers in various ports on Holy Monday

MANILA, Philippines — More than 23,000 passengers were in various ports nationwide in the early hours of Holy Monday, the Philippine Coast Guard said.

Data from the PCG showed that a total of 23,090 outbound passengers were in various ports across the country from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Most of the passengers (6,088 passengers) were in the ports in the Southern Tagalog provinces such as Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Southern Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, and Romblon.

In Central Visayas, there were 3,576 passengers, the PCG said.

The Bicol ports have a total of 3,078 passengers, followed by Western Visayas (2,691 passengers), and Eastern Visayas (2,467).

Meanwhile, a total of 2,328 passengers were recorded in the ports of South Eastern Mindanao while in Southern Visayas ports, there were 2,025 passengers.

The number of passengers recorded on Holy Monday was more than twice the number the PCG had recorded on Palm Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., which was 91,604 outbound passengers.
