Chinese national slips past kidnappers in Parañaque

MANILA, Philippines – A Chinese national escaped from his abductors in Parañaque City Wednesday afternoon, the city police department said.

Police said the 28 year-old victim was snatched from a resort and casino complex and was illegally detained for two days in a condominium unit at Multinational Village in Moonwalk, Parañaque City.

The Chinese national managed to slip out of the condominium unit at around 3 p.m. and sought assistance from personnel of the Philippine National Police- Maritime Group stationed in Barangay La Huerta in Parañaque.

He told authorities that he was kidnapped after he failed to settle his 10,000 yuan debt to casino financiers.

Further investigation and pursuit operations against the kidnappers are ongoing, while the victim was turned over to the Chinese Embassy. /gsg
