Malabon barangay councilor shot dead

MANILA, Philippines — A barangay councilor in Malabon City was shot dead by an unidentified assailant near a market on Wednesday morning, the police said.

In a report from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the police identified the victim as Dante Sih, 53, a barangay councilor of Brgy. Panghulo in Malabon City.


Police said Sih was about to ride his motorcycle at the market when an unidentified gunman shot him, resulting to his instant death.

After shooting the victim, police said the suspect left a letter, supposedly from a certain “Armadong Rebolusyonaryong Manggagawa,” accusing the victim of being a hoodlum and involved in illegal drugs activities.


The incident occurred at around 8:45 a.m., police said.

They are currently conducting a dragnet operation and is still investigating the possible motive behind the killing. /je
