Cop dead in Pangasinan gun attack
DAGUPAN CITY — A policeman was killed on Tuesday after he was allegedly shot by two village council members in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, police said.
Police Cpl. Rogeron Ramirez, 39, did not survive the gun attack in front of his house in Barangay Mabalbalino about 4:30 p.m.
Ramirez suffered a gunshot wound in the back from a 12-gauge shotgun, said Police Col. Rollyfer Capoquian, San Carlos police chief.
The victim, who was assigned at the Chaplain Service of the Ilocos Regional Police Office in San Fernando City, La Union, died about 10:45 p.m. while being treated at a hospital in Dagupan City.
Ramirez’s partner identified Jose de Guzman, 59, and Diosdado Castro, 55, both council members of Barangay Mabalbalino as the suspects.
Police arrested the two in separate police operations.
Capoquian said Ramirez may have been killed because of a feud with the suspects.
He said De Guzman and Castro, who are now in jail, would face murder cases. Gabriel Cardinoza and Yolanda Sotelo
